A vertical nightscape with trees in front of numerous stars. The Milky Way rises behind the trees, and 15 greenish meteors are radially arranged in and around the Milky Way. A few trees are illuminated by torchlight. The Milky Way is a milky white band surrounded and covered by reddish brown to black bands of dust. A few areas in the Milky Way glow red from excited hydrogen gas.

The night after the partial solar eclipse of 2026 was the peak of the Perseid meteor shower, which I photographed from Göhrde, Germany. This composition is the result of a tracked camera pointing towards the radiant of the Perseids. It combines the light-painted foreground, the stacked Milky Way (232 × 30 s, 1 h 56 m), and 15 meteors. A few deep-sky objects are (barely) visible.
