Family origins are from this area (Preveza) but when I lived in S.Florida, E and W, there were some things that made me home sick, you can guess the one.

But winter in Amvrakikos gulf is magic and only people like you can recognize it, everyone else hates winters there, "too rainy" .. for Greek standards.
Especially the seasons where birds fly to Africa or return and add to all the local ones it is amazing, almost every bird you see is a different speciment... and is quite and calm like a drug of nature ...
I am planning (old fart dreaming here) in putting everything in storage, getting a shallow sailboat and literally live from corner to corner of amvrakikos and the gulf in the south between Lefkada Mitikas Astakos Ithaca .. maybe go to a nearby mountain for July/August to avoid tourist noise and pollution ..
