EDIT: Yes, I was crawling on the ground when I took this photo. I was hiding behind a tree near the oval. They stayed there drinking for about 2 mins, all of them (wife, two babies; the other family was being chased by noisy miners) Such beautiful creature! I love Australia <3

The male gang gang portrait before the Yellow-tailed cockatoo said hi!

@cgiffard@aus.social haha yes, the gang gang and the little corella always look like theyre smiling. The sulphur-crested looks confused, the long-billed corella looks like its ready to peck your eyes and the yellow-tailed looks like its about to cry. oh and the galah! I dunno, looks like a galah lol

@crimsonbutterfly Just feel so lucky to be living so close to amazing birds. We'll have some friends and family over from Japan soon who are super excited to see them so I'll get the opportunity to vicariously enjoy their first experiences of seeing them all.

@crimsonbutterfly Not 100% on either but obviously all our wonderful parrots which I'm hoping we can see in and around Brunswick//Parkville in the various parks and down by the river. I personally really love superb fairy wrens but haven't ever seen any in the vicinity.

@cgiffard@aus.social Trin Warren Tamboore, near the Skink Habitat. There were about 13 superb fairy wrens the other day I went. The male are changing plumage now too! Perfect timing.

Try to bring them to the Royal Botanical Garden/Merri Creek too.. Or Yarrabend Park for a guaranteed sighting of red - rumped parrots

@crimsonbutterfly The Gang Gang cockatoo — emblem of my kids’ school. Don’t see them often. Lovely shot.

@crimsonbutterfly I can definitely relate with being on the ground to get the photo you want. I have casually laid down on the floor in the middle of museums to get a certain angle of the ceiling haha
