Cockatoos are types of parrot that exist mostly in Australia, New Guinea, Indonesia and the Philippines. Of the 21 known species, we are blessed with 14 in Australia--of which 11 are endemic

This female Gang-gang surprised me on my walk today. Having such beautiful birds 2 mins away from home is something I will always treasure.

You are blessed with the birds and all the other wildlife, all the wonderful plants in Australia. Thank you for sharing parts of this wildlife.

I had the pleasure to get to know small parts of the Australian wildlife, Australian people, the landscape and I am missing it.

I'll never forget the time I was camping alone, sitting by the fire after dinner and a single gang gang cockatoo flew down, landed on the log next to me, fluffed up and we had a good conversation for about 1 1/2 hours, just sitting there watching the fire and talking. I have no idea what either of us said but it was a great conversation.
