A photograph taken in San Marino shows the bronze “Monumento alle vittime del bombardamento, 26 giugno 1944.” The sculpture depicts a dramatic, dynamic female figure stepping forward with wind-swept hair raised in one hand, symbolizing strength and anguish. Her other arm holds a limp child against her torso, representing the civilian victims of the 1944 bombing. The statue stands before a stone building with rectangular windows and is partially framed by lush green trees. In the foreground, out of focus, a dense cluster of bright pink and red flowers adds vivid color and soft contrast to the somber monument. The misty, muted background enhances the emotional weight of the scene, emphasizing remembrance and loss.
